Hello Rolling Meadows Theater Students, Families and Supporters!
My name is Ms. Svarz. Beginning this school year, I will be taking over the Rolling Meadows Acting Classes and Theatre Program from Mrs. Kenyon. I am so looking forward to getting to know and work with you to continue the traditions of excellence, leadership, and community that already steer this program so beautifully.
Prior to Rolling Meadows, I taught English courses and directed productions at Conant High School. Before joining the education world, I worked for a variety of theater companies in Chicago as a freelance director, script supervisor, and dramaturge, focusing on environmental theater and devised work. I have also taught workshops around the US and Canada (including ITA Theatrefest!) in Ballroom Dance, Dramaturgy, Medieval Theater, and Production Design.
I bring my knowledge of the professional theater world together with my love of the academic realm and hope to create an interplay between these two at RMHS. Students, I want you to feel challenged, engaged, accepted, and inspired. I want to create a space for you to grow, take risks, and learn through the study of theater and all its forms. Families and supporters, I want you to see your students succeed in their craft, engaging in intentional ways with a difficult art form to create something extraordinary. My experiences with the students and staff at RMHS have been nothing short of wonderful, and I feel so privileged to be part of this community.
Please feel free to reach out to me at any time with questions, ideas, or simply to introduce yourself. I can't wait to get to know you. If there is anything I can do to further engage you in our community, please let me know.
Let's make this year exceptional!
Ms. Steph Svarz
